EL drivers are electrical energy conversion devices specifically used to drive electroluminescence (abbreviated as EL) devices. They can convert the power supply under specified conditions into an alternating current power supply suitable for the operation of EL devices, thereby stimulating the luminescent materials in the EL materials to make them emit light.
EL drivers are mainly divided into EL luminous wire drivers and EL luminous sheet drivers, and the difference lies in the slightly different working frequencies. The following factors are mainly considered when choosing a suitable EL driver:
- Input voltage. It depends on the power usage of the product’s usage environment. For example, for automotive interiors, the common power supply for cars is DC 12V, so an EL driver with an input voltage of DC 12V should be chosen.
- Luminous power. Consider the power of EL products in the application environment. For example, the length of the EL luminous wire or the luminous area of the EL luminous sheet. Generally, EL wire drivers are classified into types such as 3m/5m/15m/50m/100m/200m drivers.
- Luminous mode. Due to the particularity of the structure of EL devices, common luminous modes generally include always-on, flashing (slow flash/fast flash), light chasing (streaming light), gradient, etc. Special customization can achieve remote control (Bluetooth, wireless).
The output range of EL drivers after conversion is generally 800 – 150V and 800 – 2000Hz.
